Method and assumptions
Attendance = attended ÷ held × 100. Required consecutive classes n satisfy (attended + n) ÷ (held + n) ≥ target. Safe absences satisfy attended ÷ (held + absences) ≥ target. Only whole classes are counted. A 100% target cannot be reached with a finite number of new classes after an absence.
Worked example
For 60 of 80 classes and an 80% target: (60+n)/(80+n) ≥ 0.8 gives n ≥ 20.
